I had a fabulous discussion with the nine Bookies of Del Mar yesterday, taking place in the lovely home of John Goodkind. All of the group participated with extensive and intelligent comments and were remarkably enthusiastic about my debut
novel, Artist, Lover, Forger, Thief. It was an uplifting experience for all of us. Accompanying our bright chatter, we feasted on delicious home made snacks and juices. Many thanks to John, Julie, and all the Bookies.

It was a special treat for me and DMCC Page Turners audience to hear Dr. James Kleiger's discussion of his latest terrific novel, 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨: 𝘼 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚, at our January meeting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29JoK39dp8M

It was fascinating to hear him speak about how he developed his exciting, multi-layered story and his main character, special FBI agent Nicola Kitts, while writing this book, the sequel to the first book in this series, 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙊𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧. As I write this, Jim is nearing completion of his third book in this original and thrilling series.
Both being psychologists who write psychologically-oriented mystery-thrillers, we had a great time delving into the unique psychopathology of his pair of fascinating twins who are suspects in the ingenious killing of their former psychiatrists.
One member of the audience burst forth, saying she thought this novel so riveting that she couldn't wait to read the sequel.
Thanks to @JHermanKleiger.

One of the best discussions we’ve ever had at DMCC Page Turners was our latest program with the multi prize-winning authors Marisa Silver and Lisa Fugard (who has the additional distinction of being my writing teacher of over 20 years). I introduced the authors and joined the discussion. With Lisa’s expert moderation, Marisa brought to life her fascinating novel, At Last, about the intricate relationship between two very different women as they attempt to share a troubled grandchild. While this story may not sound like a thriller, it is mesmerizing and an absolute page turner. I highly recommend it for its unusual and profound insights into the complexity of women’s evolving relationships. The novel is also beautifully written. If you were unable to attend the program, you can access a video of it on the DMCC website: www.dmcc.cc
I am delighted to announce that our next Page Turners Program will feature the outstanding author/psychologist J. Herman Kleiger, who will discuss his mesmerizing psychological thriller, Whispers, on January 22, 2026.

GREAT NEWS! Artist, Lover, Forger,Thief is short-listed for the 2025 Clue Award in Suspense/Thriller Fiction and is also a Distinguished Favorite in the 2025 NYC Big Book Award program.

AUTHOR KATE QUINN: DMCC PAGE TURNERS PROGRAM
In the latest DMCC Page Turners Program (9/11/25), best selling author Kate Quinn and I had a great discussion about her latest best selling book, The Briar Club. The Del Mar audience participated enthusiastically. For those who aren't familiar with Kate Quinn, I call her the Queen of HIstorical Fiction. All of her books are riveting, superbly plotted, and wonderfully written. The Briar Club is a particular treat. Highly recommended.

The audience was entranced with Lundquist's moving presentation of growing up under Mao ZeDong in China. Then, after escaping to the US, she faced poverty, isolation, rejection, and racism, all of which she overcame with great courage. This remarkable true story should not be missed.
