One of the best discussions we’ve ever had at DMCC Page Turners was our latest program with the multi prize-winning authors Marisa Silver and Lisa Fugard (who has the additional distinction of being my writing teacher of over 20 years). I introduced the authors and joined the discussion. With Lisa’s expert moderation, Marisa brought to life her fascinating novel, At Last, about the intricate relationship between two very different women as they attempt to share a troubled grandchild. While this story may not sound like a thriller, it is mesmerizing and an absolute page turner. I highly recommend it for its unusual and profound insights into the complexity of women’s evolving relationships. The novel is also beautifully written. If you were unable to attend the program, you can access a video of it on the DMCC website: www.dmcc.cc
I am delighted to announce that our next Page Turners Program will feature the outstanding author/psychologist J. Herman Kleiger, who will discuss his mesmerizing psychological thriller, Whispers, on January 22, 2026.

GREAT NEWS! Artist, Lover, Forger,Thief is short-listed for the 2025 Clue Award in Suspense/Thriller Fiction and is also a Distinguished Favorite in the 2025 NYC Big Book Award program.

AUTHOR KATE QUINN: DMCC PAGE TURNERS PROGRAM
In the latest DMCC Page Turners Program (9/11/25), best selling author Kate Quinn and I had a great discussion about her latest best selling book, The Briar Club. The Del Mar audience participated enthusiastically. For those who aren't familiar with Kate Quinn, I call her the Queen of HIstorical Fiction. All of her books are riveting, superbly plotted, and wonderfully written. The Briar Club is a particular treat. Highly recommended.

Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC) Page Turners Program recently featured international Del Mar author Li Ying Lundquist on 7/24/25, who discussed her gripping fictionalized memoir Wings of Silk with the moderator, Nate NcCay, the Program Director, Sheila Sharpe, and committee member Betty Bulich.

The audience was entranced with Lundquist's moving presentation of growing up under Mao ZeDong in China. Then, after escaping to the US, she faced poverty, isolation, rejection, and racism, all of which she overcame with great courage. This remarkable true story should not be missed.
